  • To assign work of responsible for providing mass transit services within the Transit Department and to perform a technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility
  • Assign and coordinate the work of bus operators responsible for providing mass transit services within the Transit Department
  • Prepare schedule and assign daily work duties and routes prepare block sheets run boards status reports and call lists
  • Maintain employee time sheets vehicle allocation and run assignments
  • Rotate between Transfer Center and the Transit office as needed to complete assigned tasks
  • Considerable knowledge of the operating characteristics of passenger buses
  • Considerable knowledge of accepted methods and techniques of safe driving with particular emphasis on passenger-carrying vehicles
  • Considerable knowledge of teaching and training techniques methods and procedures
  • Skill in use of teaching aids and equipment
  • Ability to instruct develop plan implement and administer training programs
  • Ability to utilize standard computer for word processing and analytical tasks
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergencies and make sound decisions
  • Ability to maintain records and prepare necessary reports
  • Ability to work effectively with coworkers and the general public
  • Develops and conducts annual refresher training programs for all personnel within Transit Operations on how to enhance customer service and reduce liability transit operators customer service representatives dispatchers and supervisors
  • Monitors applicable laws and regulations and makes policy recommendations
  • Advises Transit Operations Manager on plans projects functions and implementation of departmental policy
  • Identifies safety areas of concerns evaluates accidents and community reports
  • Provides analysis along with cause and an action plan on how to prevent accidents and improve customer service
  • Evaluates performance of Transit Operator Trainees and makes recommendations to the Transit Operations Manager as to whether or not a Trainee has the ability to be a successful Transit Operator
  • Maintains records and develops reports performs data collection and statistical analysis utilizing a computer and makes recommendations related to training performance
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal written and oral communication skills
